What if purpose is something you do? 🤔

At a recent Bright Morning team retreat, we were doing what we always do when beginning something new: we started by naming the purpose.
In the middle of that conversation, I found myself saying,
“I think purpose would be a verb.”
Because purpose isn’t something we find once and hold onto forever.
It’s something we do.
It’s something we live into—through our choices, our presence, our actions.
This time of year, it’s easy to feel disconnected from our why.
And that’s not just about back-to-school exhaustion.
It’s the state of our world. The violence, the injustice, the heartbreak.
It’s the crushing weight of policies that harm the communities we love.
But even in the swirl, we can return to purpose.
Not as an idea—but as a practice.
Try this:Â
Ask yourself at the start of your day, how can I embody my purpose in one small action today?
💡Maybe it’s really listening to someone who’s struggling.
💡Maybe it’s protecting time to reflect.
💡Maybe it’s telling the truth, kindly.
Purpose doesn’t have to be grand. But it does have to be lived.
With love,Â
